Freelance Proofreader and Copy-Editor, 2002–
Proofreading and copy-editing text for publishers, medical communications agencies, general businesses and website design companies. Particular expertise: fiction, complementary and alternative medicine, pharmaceutical industry and psychology.
Project Editor, Pickering & Chatto Publishers Ltd, 2000–2002
Began as an Editorial Assistant and worked my way up to Project Editor. Responsible for publishing multi-volume and fully annotated anthologies. Copy-edited introductions and annotation; proofread reset texts and work returned from typesetters, translators and indexers; and compiled amendments from editors/authors and freelancers. Managed projects from contract to print.
Publishing Assistant, Marshall Publishing, 1999–2000
Copy-edited and proofread catalogues, leaflets and web pages marketing illustrative books on a wide range of topics including health, self-help, petcare, house and garden improvements, business skills, and children’s early learning. Also worked with picture researchers and designers to create spreads, blads and jackets.
